Lehrer Awarded CCIM Designation: Achievement Signifies Expertise in Commercial Real Estate

Henry “Mac” Lehrer, CCIM, Hoty Enterprises, Inc., was awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute, one of the leading commercial real estate associations in the world. The designation was awarded last month at the institute’s business meetings in Tampa, Florida.

Mac Lehrer was among the 164 commercial real estate professionals who earned the designation by completing advanced coursework in financial and market analysis and passing the CCIM Comprehensive Examination, the final component in the designation process. Only about 6% of the estimated 150,000 commercial real estate practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation, which reflects not only the caliber of the program, but why it is one of the most coveted and respected honors in the industry.

Mac Lehrer currently handles commercial sales and leasing for the Brokerage Services division of Hoty Enterprises, Inc. specializing in commercial/retail, industrial and investment properties for corporate clients as well as private owners of real estate. With nearly 24 years of experience, Mac has leased or sold a diverse portfolio of commercial properties including shopping plazas, commercial/office buildings, manufacturing plants, business parks, acreage and land for development. He has consistently been one of the area’s top commercial sales producers.

Redefining what it means to be a student athlete, last summer TU joined the world of digital athletics and video game competitions, also known as esports.

The demand of interested students was so great, TU moved up the timeline for its program, acquired land, and constructed a stand-alone, 4,000 square-foot arena - one of the largest collegiate gaming spaces in the nation.

"This complex houses a state-of-the-art training room as well as a gaming lounge for all students to practice and compete,” said TU President Lillian Schumacher.

“We identified esports as an untapped area of student interest, and we have created an innovative program that combines esports with TU’s high quality academic programs offering numerous scholarship opportunities and attractive academic programs.” Schumacher said.

For additional information about TU’s esports program, contact Chalin Cahlik, head coach, at or call 419-341-1826.

Hawkes Crystal celebrates Tiffin historic businesses with Fleck’s Easter Egg ornament
Hawkes Crystal is stepping into spring by introducing the first in a series of limited edition legacy ornaments designed to celebrate Tiffin’s most iconic and beloved businesses. The 2018 “Celebrating Tiffin, Ohio” ornament pays homage to the legendary Fleck’s Easter Egg Dyes. It features the whimsical, well-dressed Easter Bunny that graced the cover of the Fleck’s box several times during the 1940s and ‘50s. “Hawkes Crystal will be celebrating its second anniversary this spring. Almost every day someone comes into our South Washington Street gallery with a tale to tell about a family member who worked for the Tiffin Glass Factory years ago, or in my family’s company, National Machinery,” says Cindy Kalnow of Hawkes Crystal. “We started brainstorming about what type of memento we could create to honor these historic businesses, each of which played such an important part of weaving the generations of our small community together.”
