Support the Tiffin-Seneca Heritage Festival

by Eric Willman

Hard to believe, but September 15-17, 2017 brings about the 39th Annual Tiffin Seneca Heritage Festival.  Thank you to the support of the Citizens and Businesses of the Tiffin and Seneca County Community, the Festival will continue to offer the unique experience of the Living History Village, located at Hedges-Boyer Park, and the Downtown Celebration, which offers the BEST and LARGEST Parade of the Year, Food and Music, all the while trying to grow the celebration of our Local Heritage! Starting last year, the Downtown celebration introduced the “Heritage Block”, offering authentic German Music, Dance and Cuisine on both Saturday and Sunday of the event.  In 2017, we look forward to growing this “Heritage Block” celebration, offering a larger lineup of German Heritage events for the entertainment of the community.  In fact, in future years, we look to promote the growth of this area by diversifying into the Italian and Irish Heritages that helped to make the Tiffin and Seneca County communities into the success they are today!

As we finalize the details of the 2017 Heritage Festival, we do look forward to the continued support of the Tiffin and Seneca County Citizens and Businesses.  Whether you are able to volunteer your time during the weekend, or able to provide financial support for the event, it is greatly appreciated.  In fact, in 2017, we have made available the opportunity to sponsor specific events, such as the Heritage Block, Parade, Kids Korner, etc.  Ask today how your Organization can support the growth in our focus on the Heritage of Tiffin and Seneca County.  For details, call 419-619-8904 or email

The program touched on several topics and hosted two speakers.  Samantha Pneuman, (right), Image Specialist for Kimmel Corp spoke on branding.  Amy Hoffman, (left) Program Manager, Palmer Energy Company talked about the Chamber Energy Program.  She also introduced Trevor Kendrick, the new Account Manager for our area.  Bob Evans provided breakfast for everyone.

The new Town to Gown Tuition Discount information was shared along with a pass out for the SOCA Benefit Plan.  The fliers for these benefits can be found on the chamber’s website.  It was explained that a Small Business Saturday survey was set up to see if there was an interest in having a Special Small Business for Seneca County that did not conflict with the big Ohio State football game.  Brittany Cook gave information on the GOBA’s June visit to Seneca County.   Everyone present was able to share information about themselves and their business.

Small Business Saturday

The Official Small Business Saturday is November 25, 2017.  It is also the day that Ohio State plays the Michigan Wolverines.  Last year many people complained about this, since we cannot change the day of the big game; we are proposing something more proactive.  The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Services is suggesting that Seneca County has their own Small Business Saturday on November 11, 2017.  We have attached a survey to get your input.
