Message from the President: Shop Local!

This month, we celebrate small businesses with Small Business Saturday on November 26.

Small Business Saturday is most successful in helping local retail businesses grow their revenues over this key weekend, when public/private coalitions of small business leaders have come together to provide coordination and leadership.

The Chamber is celebrating another year as a member of the Small Business Saturday Coalition and a neighborhood champion. Join us in supporting local businesses by signing up. We encourage all small businesses to sign up for the Small Business marketing and promotional materials. Sign up on the event website

In addition to this nationwide push, we’ll be starting our annual campaign “Shop Local, Shop Small, Shop Chamber”. This holiday season, remember to shop local and support your friends and neighbors!

102nd Annual Meeting: Congratulations to our award winners!

The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce gathered for our 102nd Annual Meeting on October 20th to celebrate individual and collective achievements in our community and review the accomplishments of our organization.

During this meeting, we recognized several of our residents who have gone above and beyond in promoting the community.

We added our first woman in our 102-year history to our Hall of Fame. This year, we presented the award posthumously to Carol Yager. Carol owned Crystal Traditions and for the last five years was our partner in Destination Seneca County. With her focus on Tiffin, her leadership, and vision, she will be greatly missed.

The Chamber also presented the President’s Award for the first time in seven years. Brig. Gen. Mark Scheid and Tony Paradiso, co-owner of BAS Broadcasting, were presented the award for their leadership in organizing the Patriot Day Salute, which marked the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Be In The Know Breakfast

Learn about chamber programs and benefits during the Be in The Know Breakfast, 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 26 in the Chamber Community Room! Susie Wilkinson from Simply Susan’s will give a presentation on Window Displays. The details for the Christmas Window contest will be revealed.

It is time to gear up for the Holiday Seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Once Halloween is over, it is time to decorate for Thanksgiving.  Yes, it does say Thanksgiving.  Take time to enjoy our fall season with this holiday that reminds us that we have a lot to be thankful for.  Your customers will appreciate the fact that you are not rushing to push the commercial part of Christmas down their throats.

Of course, for some decorating for Christmas on November 25th is not practical, then go ahead and decorate on November 23rd.  Be closed on November 24th, enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and allow your employees to do the same.

There will be time to exchange ideas and tips on all the topics discussed.

Electronic billboard coming soon!

Coming soon, Lind Media will be upgrading one of their Tiffin billboards to an electronic board! What does that mean for us and our Chamber members? That means we have a permanent spot on that billboard that can cycle through up to 6 different advertisements!

Because of the quick turnaround—billboards, once submitted, can be up in a matter of minutes—the elimination of a production fee, and ability to put up more than one board at a time, we will have much more flexibility in promoting events in the community.

Stay tuned for more information!
