Dave Spridgeon and his wife Angie, former partners of a local Findlay bourbon bar, have completed renovations of their three story 1920s inspired bourbon bar, The Renaissance of Tiffin, and opening day is set for Friday, November 10.
The 129 S. Washington Street building is owned by downtown Tiffin residents, Weston Reinbolt and Suzie Reineke. Formerly DP's since 1972, the bar's new general manager, Ashley Caudill, has been instrumental in its restoration including demolition, sanding, staining, painting, and the coordination of contractors for updated electrical and a new HVAC system. Customized structures have been designed, constructed, and incorporated by local Tiffin residents and businesses.
Spridgeon says it’s about the atmosphere: “If I go to another city, I want to taste their flair, to go home and tell people, ‘you won’t believe it, you need to experience this.’” The Renaissance of Tiffin is sure to transport guests back to the end of prohibition and provide the highest grade of hospitality from staff dressed in time period gowns and coat tails.
Along with whiskey and cocktails, The Renaissance offers its own single barrel batch of Knob Creek. Guests may purchase and store their bottle in the bar's bottle keep. Upon completion, guests receive a pair of engraved glasses, a customized T-shirt, and their bottle personalized for display.
“We have already been collaborating with other downtown businesses,” explains Spridgeon. As an example, Empire 138 is across the street and will be providing a custom menu including small plates delivered to the Renaissance while guests are enjoying their cocktails.
Caudill also plans to hold regular events, including a monthly whiskey tasting featuring distilleries, and commemorative events such as a Kentucky Derby party and an annual end of Prohibition celebration.
The third floor of the bourbon bar, Barrel 51, can be rented for a nominal fee for private life celebrations like wedding showers, baby showers, birthdays, or anniversaries. Questions can be directed to the bar's event coordinator, Cassondra Boone, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org Grand Opening celebrations will kick-off with opening day being Friday, November 10 and continue through Saturday, November 11, 4:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Further hours and contact information can be found at tiffinrenaissance.com
